2008-2009 Heads don't interchange?

Postby limequat » Thu May 24, 2012 12:58 pm

So, looking on car-part.com, I see that 2008-2009 heads don't interchange with the 2006-2007 heads.
Is there anything that would preclude putting a 2008 head on a 2006 block?

So, just to get a definate YES or NO, heads will interchange thru the years, but the corresponding valves, cover, coils and exhaust must be reused? But my electronics and fuel from my origiona 2004 can be used?

All correct. If you were to put a 2008 head on a 2004 block, you'd use 2008 coils, 2004 MAP, Throttle, etc.

I'm not aware of any real changes to the head from 2006-2009. However, you might want to get a 2006 to ensure that the camshaft reluctor works with your PCM.

a simple bench port and polish along woth the machine shop's work ought to suffice.

There is a good 25+ HP locked up in the late model head.

figure 30 min's per intake port + 2-3 hours on the exhaust per port.

Once you have the head apart it will be clear whats needed. The 06 up stock exhaust port stalls @ 160cfm (28" water pressure) it needs work, the intake once you knock the sharp ridge off increases by 20-25% flow.
