New 4.2 for Corvette leaked

OK, I admit, the indication is that it's a V8, but is it really? Consider...

The last I5 GM built was built at the Tonawanda plant.

The new engine is supposed to be DOHC, just like our beloved Vortec.

This website, speculates that the 4.2 will be twin turbo and be rated at about 420 hp https://jalopnik.com/leaked-documents-s ... 1820833304

Gee...4.2l, DOHC, built at Tonawanda, twin turbo, 400+ HP...
Sounds a lot like this:

Heresy you say? Hardly! Remember the first Corvette was an I6 and it was marketed to young working class dudes. An I6 corvette would be a return to form. For sure the power would be there, along with reduced cost and weight (compare to a DOHC V8).

What about packaging? It's a non-issue on a mid-engine platform. The height is no longer a problem, as the driver doesn't have to see over it. And the length no longer threatens the crumple zones. Throw in the standard I6 advantages - such as reduced part count, perfect balance, split hot/cold side - and the I6 mid engine 'vette is a no brainer!

The corvette guys are seriously speculating that the 4.2 is a 6.

Wonder if the 4.2 and 5.5 DOHC will spawn less exotic variants?. I see a trend with GM to use these engines in Cadillacs and Corvettes and just totally ignore the bread and butter vehicles that actually sell. Look at the twin turbo high feature 3.6 that ONLY Cadillac got. Ever look at how bad Cadillac's sell number wise? Dismal to say the least. Surprised the 4200 and other derivatives ever saw the light of day with GM's way of thinking.
